When Lieutenant Teddy Bacon lost his gold watch in 1941, he thought it was gone for good. The watch had slipped off his wrist into the harbour in Gibraltar. Surprisingly though, when the harbour was dredged in 2007 the watch was recovered and detailed harbour records meant it was returned to its owner. Perhaps more surprising it that it still worked perfectly.
